«I am what I think but not what I eat!» — I have chosen this statement to be a setting treatment programm of bulimia. And I add intepreting it on my own: «I am what I think and do but no what I eat!» In other words you have what you think!

Very often girls ask why do I pig out and retch as I understand everything but I can't stop? I ask: «What do you feel then?» The answer is: I feel hate towards myself, angry, reserve, it is all my fault, I must have had control over myself, I don't deserve better life … and so on. And this is the CB (central belief) which is a virus causing nervous bulimia — «I am bad, I am not worth, I am guilty!»

Thoughts about weight and food are conscious reflection of what is hidden deep in the subcouscious. It is a projection to act, in such case to slim, to break down, to fast, to keep a diet, to pig out, to clean oneself, to vomit and so on. But if there is the virus «I am bad, I am not worth, I am guilty!» on «slim» stage, a plain process of putting off a pair of kilos turns out to be a disease. Options are: bulimia, anorexia, compulsive overeating. Though there are a great number of CBs in such case I speak about it in compliance to the subject matter of our blog.

The second but still a very urgent question is: Can be bulimia be coped with on your own? The answer is: Yes! I would like to specify one word: «to cope with» as it is the work over yourself and it is the process but not an anti-rabies injection. And it is possible after the identification together with a psychotherapist reasons for such CBs formed either in childhood or in some traumatic event of more mature age. You won't find the means to cure the virus without identifying it.

And the last question is my favourite by which I can forecast the result: What to do about it?

If to proceed that a thought generates an action and the situation which is noted as «I am bad, I am not worth, I am guilty!» the secret of reverse activation of the program in the thought as well — but in the opposite thought.  All genius is really simple.

Let's try: we well write a new set, a new CB which once have been created on your own can evolve further (hint: this is the major self-help mechanism by bulimia which is of such a great interest to bulimics).

«I am good! I am worth! I am responsible!» («responsibility» is a derived notion from «guilt», but has more positive implication and more real for management, and lacks the particle «not» — not guilty as your mind protests to the particle «not». Don't eat. Don't be impudent. Don't meet him. Don't upset your mother. Don't be lazy. Don't be a fool. Don't howl. Don't show your temper and so on — what you did on hearing that?)

To resist yourself is to resist the good, kindness and happiness coming into your life. We are born for happiness and love originally. Happiness is drawn by knowledge that I am worth of it. Positive draws positive! Start thinking differently.

Forgive your disease and accept it as a guide to act, that it is high time thoughts about the disease should be replaced by thoughts about happiness, love, and fortune. What is so little in your life that you make up for it by food? And vice versa what is so much and so bothering that you want to tear it out from yourself?

Positive thoughts must be supported by actions and faith in yourself (it's an extra self-cure mechanism). Align these two lists and write your actions concerning each item to decrease the necessary and to increase the desired. Microsteps. There is no need moving the whole mountain. And remember that «Each who has achieved something didn't know HOW to do it. He just knew he WOULD DO it!»
